The biz iz gettin’ bizzy but it don’t mean we gettin’ dizzy. The Aren’t We Clever team is looking at a really busy August and has good vibes flowin’ throughout. You jive? Get ready to pick up what we’re laying down.
After perusing some more-than-satisfactory pieces of literature (comic books) an idea popped into my head and I was soon in discussion with Creative Genius, Zac Eubank, over presumption and assumption that an Aren’t We Clever comic would be greatly beneficial for PR (not to mention pretty kick-ass!) And I’m not talking about an Archie-esque strip wherein the Aren’t We Clever team runs into the dilemma over whether or not dad will let us use the Harley for our date this coming Saturday night (please?) We’re talking the Aren’t We Clever team encountering their everyday problems in business with great exaggeration and diabolical villains. Yes, we’ve only been in business for a couple months, and yes we do have villains already. So in the spirit of the recently passed Comic Con, we’ll be donning our suits and cleaning the graphic-laden-interweb-streets of Kansas City.
I’m still in the running to be named Ink Magazine’s Hottest Reader of 2010. I appreciate every one who has taken time to vote for me. It’s a good feeling knowing that I might be a contributing factor to the recent heat index. Don’t give me any fracas when you pass out from heat exhaustion or stroke. Remember to stay hydrated and enjoy a cold bev like a margarita or vodka infused lemonade or a glass of chardonnay-nay or some tequi-ki and orange juice… Anywho, the voting ends on August 11th. Should I win, I’ll be featured in Ink Magazine with an interview or something of that nature. It should be pretty tizz-ite. If you would like to vote, you can click on the picture of me to your immediate right—the one that says “Vote For Sam” above it.
The team and I are currently brainstorming ideas for next month’s issue of Camp Magazine. They have hired us to shoot a cover for their Missouri Gay Rodeo issue and want to do a story about our gay-friendly business. Hopefully, with our semi-southern and Midwest upbringing and minimal visits to any ro-day-o type events we’ll be able to pull off something clever. I’m thinking something Garth Brooks mixed with a touch of Celine Dion.
I recently attended my first-ever Zoey awards held at Flo’s Cabaret. I was surprised when told I had actually been nominated in the category for Best Photographer. I attended the event and sat at the Camp Magazine table with camera in hand (and a vodka sprite in the other.) I was actually next to the stage taking photos when my category came up and my flash was firing when they announced that I had actually won. I was shocked and wasn’t expecting anything. It was an honor just to be nominated. I’d like to thank John Long for setting me up with photo gigs for Camp Magazine and other events in Kansas City. I’d also like to thank those who voted for me, considered me, nominated me… I’m not really sure how the winner is determined or the people behind the decisions, but thanks!
The Aren’t We Clever house is getting pretty packed. By which I mean that there are too many Sams under one roof. I’m the only one that is needed, but there is another roommate who prances around on four legs, never shuts the hell up, and is always sitting in the spot I want to be sitting. He’s a twenty-something pound tabby. He’s a real bitch. I feel safe airing my grievances online because although I’m pretty sure he can understand what I’m saying, I know for a fact that cats can not read English. If he knew how annoyed by him I actually am, he would probably amp it up.
Our long-time surrogate sister Mary-Moo will be making her way up to K.C. and staying in the Aren’t We Clever house for some time. She has been extremely persistent in her pursuits of attaining an Aren’t We Clever t-shirt. We’ve been wondering if shirts would be necessary for our team… of course they are! Though, I would much prefer our own line of suits. We’ll see what we come up with.
That’s about all I have to say about that. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite YouTube videos EVER!
